Metro Tunnel Completed
FOS Lighting is proud to be part of the newly completed State Library Station, Victoria!
The final Melbourne Metro Tunnel station is now complete, marking a major milestone for the city’s underground network.
Designed by Hassell, Weston Williamson and Partners, and Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners, the new station connects Footscray to Malvern, linking the Sunbury Line with the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.
According to the Victorian Government, State Library Station is the deepest and most complex station ever built beneath Melbourne’s CBD. Located 42 metres below Swanston Street - deeper than the height of Marvel Stadium - it features platforms 220 metres long and 18 metres wide, among the widest underground metro platforms in the world.
The station includes 27 escalators, with the longest stretching 42 metres - the longest in Melbourne and 12 metres longer than those at Parliament Station.
